So we have had a look at what tricks Mr.C uses to get in. What we shouldn’t or event mustn’t do (in case you have missed the previous two, here is Cancer- how to keep the thief out and Cancer – what are you?). But is there anything that we can do to make our walls stronger, or foundations firmer?
Yes there is.
Some sources list physical inactivity and obesity as one of causes of cancer. I did not mention in in my previous post, as I view it in a different way. I am sure that it is true that 30 to 35% of cancer deaths is related to physical inactivity and obesity. However I think that it is strongly connected with the lifestyle choices leading to weak foundations. It is not a cause in most cases but rather a lack of defense. If our body is strong and focused it can more easily fence and counterattack. Even if the thief gets in, it can easily be identified and thrown out through the front door, without any call for help. If we make our body busy with internal struggles, it simply won’t have enough strength and attention to identify and defend from other threats.
Yes, healthy and fit people do get cancer as well. So there are no guarantees. However a strong person will definitely get at the other end of cancer treatment with a stronger stance, because of stronger foundations. I am hoping to talk about medical ways how to get Mr. C out in future posts, but I am sure we all know that they are all very invasive. It can have a different scale but it always feels like an earthquake to the system. The stronger the foundations, the better chance to hold on, or even rebuild if necessary.
I will get into the topic of diet, I promise, but I think we all in general sense know what fit and healthy means.
I know that for us making changes is difficult. We are creatures of habit. And long term consequences do not always resonate enough to take immediate action. We need the carrot in front of our nose. I am no different. However I have recently met someone who over a year ago was diagnosed with lung cancer. She underwent surgery and treatment and now she seems to be clean and getting stronger with every day. As you can imagine, this experience had made her reevaluate everything in her life and bring up to the front what really matters.
I remember going home and asking myself: do we really need to be on the edge of losing everything to open our eyes and see beyond the bill we have to pay tonight and the rubbish bin we need to take out to the street in the morning?
I really hope not. So maybe today is actually a perfect day to start the change.
